Sekitori

Background - One night, while bored in the underworld, a discussion between a friend and I brought a problem with the current character selection process to light. No matter whether male or female, for the majority of classes, most are pretty anorexic. Now. Instead of changing this process to include a way to choose how fat you want your character to be, I thought... why not make it a whole class of it's own! (Warning... the following text may not be entirely serious...) I haven't included energy or recharges for skills just because well.. it's never really gonna happen but i thought a few of you might enjoy reading it I wanted to have some silly pictures to add to the comedy but well, i cant draw.

The Class - Named Sekitori after a sumo wrestler because it was the first mental image I had while envisioning the class in action. My ideas for the four attributes were to have one related to body size, one defensive, one aggressive and one for hand to hand combat. My idea was that this class would function mainly as a tank, now I know... warriors can tank and before you all shout at me I have played a warrior for quite some time and have experienced a warriors tanking but one of my pet hates about trying to tank is that it's pretty easy to lose aggro and just end up chasing targets around rather than actually aborsbing any damage. The idea behind this class is that they'd be able to draw aggro, use aoe snares to stop foes escaping and absorb the resulting damage. Before you start telling me the taunts wouldn't work in PVP... I know... shouts such as Ridicule from the same attribute line would still work in PVP and stop the attribute line from becoming entirely useless.

Attributes

Body Mass/Stature - For each rank of Body Mass, your character's body mass and size increases. Many skills, especially those related to inflicting damage and conditions on your target, become more effective with higher Body Mass.

Resolve - No inherent effect. Many skills, especially those related to absorbing damage and healing are more effective with higher resolve.

Ridicule - No inherent effect. Many Skills, especially those related to drawing the attacks of enemies and dealing damage are more effective with higher ranks in Ridicule.

Close Combat - No inherent effect. Many skills, especially those related to hand to hand combat become more effective with higher Close Combat.

Skills

"Belly Smash" (Body Slam?)
Type "Skill"
Attribute "Body Mass"
Description "Collide with target foe. Target foe is left dazed for 0...10 seconds and is left weakened for 0...10 seconds. Foes adjacent to your target are left weakened for 0...5 seconds"

"Jiggle"
Type "Stance"
Attribute "Body Mass"
Description "You gyrate for 0...10 seconds, foes movement within earshot is reduced by 50% and weakened foes are knocked down. While in this stance your movement is reduced by 90%."
Now in regards to this skill, as a friend of mine pointed out, for the most part stances tend to bring around a positive effect on the user of the stance and don't tend to directly affect enemies. But, due to the nature of the action and skill, the term stance just fits this skill so well... Also I figured with something like this there has to be a way to end it; most snares have a counter, such as condition or hex removal. Making this a stance means that wild blow and related skills can bring around an end to it.

"Purify"
Type "Skill"
Attribute "Resolve"
Description "Remove [1...3] conditions from target ally. This skill is easily interrupted."

Type "Skill"
Attribute "Resolve"
Description "For [0...30] seconds the next [80...150] damage you receive is negated. If this skill ends prematurely, allies within earshot are healed for [5...50]"

"Shini-tai"
Type "Shout"
Attribute "Ridicule"
Description "Taunt target foe and adjacent foes. Foes affected by this shout, if not already doing so, will target you."

"Intimidate"
Type "Shout"
Attribute "Ridicule"
Description "Melee power of foes within earshot is reduced by [5...20%]"

"Rage"
Type "Stance"
Attribute "Close Combat"
Description "You fly into a wild rage. For [4...10] seconds attack speed is increased by 33% but all spells cause exhaustion."

"Bear Hug"
Type "Skill"
Attribute "Close Combat"
Description "You grab target foe, slowing their movement by [5...25%] and their attack speed by [5...50%]"

Health and Energy:
-Maximum Health 480.
-Maximum Energy 25.
-3 pips of energy.

As for armour... well due to the um... magnitude of a character such as this it would only be fair to have a low armor class. I was thinking something on par of tattoos or scars so around AL: 60. I thought about something such as War Paint as traditionally combat related to this, such as sumo wrestlers only wear a mawashi (the belt) the armour would mostly be for decoration.

Weapons are not something which is entirely necessary for this class but due to the nature of the game are somewhat a necessary addition. The difficulty with this class is that many of the options suitable are not handheld which would provide problems in that other classes couldn't really make use of them... While entirely unoriginal one option that could be suitable is some form of brass knuckle. Another option is a gauntlet style of weapon similar to a grim cesta

Or possibly something like the Stygian Daggers

The weapons would enhance attack power with the same mods as other melee weapons. They would deal blunt damage.

Sorry i have a slight case of ADD so i didn't read all of what you wrote. But i'm completely for the sumo wrestler idea but yould have to give him a bunch of knock downs and big health bonuses and energy cause he's a big guy. Once again i love the idea hope guild wars excepts it as its own (even though the asian theme is done with).

I like the idea, but i can't see how it would ever fit into guild wars.

Plus you didn't give any energy costs, casting times, or recharge times on the skills.

bracers = gauntlets pretty much. Iron fists = brass knuckles.
